Meet the Staff

We know the success of our practice is dependent not only on the approach and quality of our treatment, but the experience and treatment from the rest of our team as well. The entire staff is dedicated to making you feel comfortable, informed, and relaxed. We are very proud of our team’s knowledge and compassion and hope that you will have the most optimal visit and experience possible.

Ryan Zastrow

Front Office

Leigh Compton

Leigh (Zastrow) Compton was born in Rifle, Colorado and moved to the Vail Valley when she was 7 years old. She graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a degree in Biology. A couple years after graduating she came back home to help her parents with the dental practice and eventually evolved into becoming the office manager. She feels very fortunate to be able to now work with her brother on a daily basis.

When she is not working she is usually outdoors. She enjoys hiking, biking, fly fishing, camping, and skiing. She has become an avid hunter in the last few years and it has become something she looks forward to every fall.  She also loves spending time with her husband, nieces, nephew and extended family whenever possible.

Jaryn Montgomery

Jaryn moved to the Vail Valley from Southern Ohio in 2015.  Coming from a dental family, she jokes that she grew up in a dental office and has been confirming appointments since before she could see over the counters.  She is our OSHA Officer and has certificates in Dental Infection Prevention and Control, Respiratory Protection, and Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention.

Jaryn and her husband, Michael, live in McCoy and have one daughter, Lindsey. 2019 is her favorite year yet because that is when her first grandchild, Emma, came along!  She enjoys leather crafting, fishing, camping, 4 wheeling and sitting around a fire with friends and family as often as she can.

She has been on both sides of the desk and knows that the dentist is not most people’s favorite place.  She always works hard to make every experience at our office a positive one.

Dental Hygienists

Staci Steggs, RDH

Staci moved to the Vail Valley in 2016 from Kansas City, Missouri.  She attended the University of Kansas  and completed her hygiene degree at Johnson Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.  She is certified to administer anesthetic, nitrous, laser therapy and CPR.

Staci has been in dentistry for 30 years and is most interested in caring for people and making them feel at ease.  When she isn’t at the dental office she likes to spend time with her family, read, hike and travel.

Since it seems to be a common question from patients we thought we should mention that she is a natural red-head and her lovely eyelashes are real.

Danielle Oleson, RDH

Danielle was born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado.  She moved to the Vail Valley when she began her employment with us.  She attended Colorado Northwestern Community College where she earned her dental hygiene degree.  She is certified to administer nitrous, anesthesia, laser therapy and CPR.  She views this as a great job opportunity where she can expand her education.

Her mother is a dental assistant so she grew up around dentistry but her interest lies in wanting people to have healthy smiles and a smile that makes them feel good.

Outside of dentistry she enjoys playing with her dogs, paddle boarding, reading books, and spending time with her family.  She is also proud to say that Dr. Ryan Zastrow thinks she is the smartest person in the office.

Karen Grimaldo

Karen was born in Los Angeles and moved to the Vail Valley at the age of 7. During her senior year attending Red Canyon High School Karen came to Zastrow Dentistry where she learned to assist via in-office training. Shortly after graduating from high school she began working full time for the office. She has now been here nearly sixteen years and has expanded her skills to working in the laboratory, as well as assisting. She is also a registered phlebotomist so that she can draw blood for our more complicated procedures.

Karen states she loves her job because “… it’s not hard to get up in the morning and come to work for great people. They are understanding, helpful, and I respect every single one of them.” Karen has a son, Luar who she adores. She enjoys meeting new people and loves animals!
